SmartKEP – Fleet Management

SmartKEP
2024 Completed

SmartKEP is a fleet management tool for small and medium-sized businesses — monitor live, prioritize, react, without expensive software.

Starting point

Existing interface before the redesign

The existing overview showed all routes in one long horizontal table — dense, scroll-heavy, with no clear visual guidance. Dispatchers had no immediate sense of where to look or where to intervene. Critical information like delays or stop cancellations got lost in the stream of data.

Concept & sketches

Early wireframe sketches

The core principle emerged in the very first sketches: a compact status matrix with traffic-light colors (green · yellow · red) visible at a glance — and a detail panel next to it that opens exactly when something needs attention. The sketches were later carried through 1:1 into the high-fidelity prototype.

What was done

UX design and an interactive Figma prototype for dispatchers and fleet managers:

  • Status matrix — all routes as a compact traffic-light overview, instantly scannable without scrolling
  • Route prioritization — routes categorized by urgency with a quick filter between priority levels
  • Stop management — real-time adjustment for delays: remove stops before routes arrive outside business hours
  • Responsive design — seamless switching between desktop and mobile throughout the workday

Result

“With SmartKEP, companies can monitor their fleet live with little effort and low cost” — real-time route adjustments, without expensive specialized software.
